Olympic Games

Olympic games origionally started in 776 b.c. The games were to honor the god Zeus. Also, only men were allowed to compete. At first there was only one event, the stadion race. It was just a running race. Then came a there and back race and then a 12 lap race. Next came boxing and wrestling, the pancration, pentalathon, and the horse and chariot race. All of these events were to get men fit. ("BBC")

Now, we have very different set up of games. Ours are obviously more modernized. They also do not honor any gods and do not involve horse and chariots. The Olympics are still a competition to win, but are also for entertainment. Women are also allowed to compete freely in the games now unlike back then. The Olympics are a fun to watch and cheer on your favorite athletes.
