Egypt,Dolmens, and War

Egypt- capitol Cairo, speaks Egyptian Arabic.
Luxor- site of dynastic temple
Pharaoh- had to make the Nile river flood each year to fertilize the crops
They called themselves Kemet wich means "black land" which refers to the land that the Nile floods
Djoser Pyramid- Mastaba- stepped pyramid..layers make a step--made in the early times
Great Pyramids- Flat surfaces
Napolean and his people- first Europeans to go and work on pyramids
Politcal upheavel going on that Old Kingdom Egypt changes
Middle Kingdom- extremely conservative
Egyptians believed in many Gods
Akhenaten--introduces monotheism..no one likes him
Tutankhamun-famous..but didnt really do anything..boy pharaoh, died young..new kingdom went with him..greek and roman world changed the country after him..during his reign at war with nuridians(?)-- then Persians invaded Egypt..Egyptians kicked Persians out, but then Greek colonized nearby


Dolmen--burial mounds made of megaliths(big stone)--all over Europe people being buried in them
Menhir-standing stones
Stonehenge- Salsbury site in England--pieces referred to has plinths and lintles--no one really knows what it is for-- could be for ritual site
