Desire for Conquest

I believe that Alexander wanted to conquer Persia just for the thrill of victory. There might have been a small chance that he wanted to avenge the wrongs, but overall it was for conquest. Alexander the Great was all about the fight. He conquered practically the whole known world and he did it mostly for himself and not for other people. There was nothing stopping him to conquer Persia and as long as he conquered it no one could really say anything about why he did it.
