King Minos ruled Aegean Sea- demanded sacrifices to feed the minotaur.
Minoan culture named after King Minos..did not have to worry about being invaded..good Navy..Its pottery has animal themes..collapsed- invaded, earthquake, or disease...no one really knows.
Mycenaeans now rule the Aegean Sea...ruled by Agamendmon...war like culture..start Trojan War..Rich in gold, but disappears
After Mycenaeans comes a dark age..no statues..no literature...everyone is scared and secluded..still hope..900B.c comes the Geometric Period(named because of art work)..Lage vase like pottery was made as gravestones..told the story of the person who was buried..culture now goes to monumental art..Geometric Period causes the Archaic Period ( 700-480 BC) "Old Period"..start to present depictions of humans..space between legs..nude statues..in battle they would strip warriors naked of their armor..the naked statues were remembered for their "Aristia"..
"Age of Tyrants" (650-510BC)- people rise in their society and start to make laws...could be good or could be bad...Hoplite army..best army..Sparta-the best..strongest warriors of Greece..One thing that could unite Greece was the invasion of the Persian empire...Perisans went to the Ionian colonies first..went all the way to Athens..Spartans and Athenians combine forces..Sparta tries to cut off the invadors at Thermopylae..Athenians are going to abadon Athens and go into the islands..3 days the 7000 Spartans blocked the path of all the Persian invadors...everyone died at this battle..but Athens was able to be evacuated..moved to Salomis..Athens is destroyed..Perisans called to Solomis..The whole Greek army and its allies are waiting and crush the Persians...Battle of Salomis is the most important battle...
